This passage speaks of Moses and Aaron as they led the Israelites through the desert. Sometimes, life seems dry for us, as if we are in the wilderness and God is not quenching our thirst. But that is not true. We must have faith knowing we no longer reside in the desert but in the Promised Land. In those moments of weakness, take a moment to look around you and see how God is blessing your life. The Israelites, who were being fed by manna from Heaven, did not realize that God was with them. Jesus lives inside each and every one of us, so we are never alone.
We will face hardship in this life, but it is not because of the desert; it is due to the everyday circumstances of this world. We don’t put our faith in this world but in Heaven. In Heaven, there is no hardship, no sorrow, no pain. Put your problems against the Word of God and it will always win out over any negative situation. Go inside His presence. Moses and Aaron only went to the door (v. 6), but we have the ability to enter all the way. Take advantage of God’s goodness because He is providing!
God instructed Moses to speak to the rock in order for its waters to flow out and replenish the people; however, Moses hit the rock instead. Though the Israelites still received, the Lord was upset with Moses because he had not followed the commands properly. Brothers and sisters, speak to the rock. You have the authority to call upon our Father for favor; He is waiting for His children to come to Him. We are living in a time of abundance. Go and drink from His living waters!
God is telling me not to rush things. They will happen in His timing. Whether it’s in relationships, jobs, school. Even in worship and prayer, it’s time to slow it down and just spend quality time with my Father.
